Little Monsters

There are monsters everywhere today!  On the big screen and on my cards!  We went to see Monsters University this afternoon and had so much fun!  Since monsters are on topic, I thought I'd share these two birthday cards with you.  I made them for my friend for her two boys, who she affectionately refers to as her "monsters".  The monster images are from a Recollections clear stamp set that I've had for some time now.

The first card features a layout from Seems A Little Sketchy (#42). The one-eyed monster is colored with Copics and cut out with Spellbinders Labels Nine Nestabilities.  Papers are Recollections Comic Heros.  I used another Spellbinders die for the stars (Stars Five) and a Martha Stewart punch for the star border.  The number 7 was made using the By the Number My Favorite Things Die-namics.  And of course, what monster is complete without a googly eye?!?!

And here is the other one.  This monster is also colored with Copics and googly eyed!

Sketch is from Mojo Monday (#299). Papers are Basic Grey - Lime Rickey (Hoboken and Tart & Tiny).  I used Spellbinders Classic Circles Nestabilities and My Favorite Things Fishtail Banners Die-namics.  The banner is embossed with a chevron pattern.  American Crafts Thickers and some fun ribbon complete the card.

Here are a couple of photos of my own little monster, having a monster of a good time today!

I hope everyone enjoyed their weekend!  It's a short week here in the US with the July 4th holiday!  I am looking forward to fireworks and barbeques!  Summer is in full swing and we are definitely enjoying it!

Thanks for stopping by!

Markers used: Copics
Monster 5 (YG03, YG06, YG11, YR02, YR07, R81, R85).
Monster 7 (R24, R27, R29, Y04, Y35).

She Sells Seashells

Hey there!  I'm back today with  Jasmine's birthday card!  HAPPY BIRTHDAY, my friend!  This is my very first time using an image from the extremely talented artist JadeDragonne.  She can be found on deviantArt HERE and Facebook HERE.  Her images are amazing and the best part- she gives them to colorists for free!  This image is called Mermaid Pinup.  I colored her with Copics and fussy cut her.  This awesome sketch is last week's The Deconstructed Sketch No. 106.  I took a little liberty with the bow element and replaced it with flowers.  Papers are Little Yellow Bicycle - Splash: Making Waves and Aqua Spot.  I used the Crowns Circles Nestabilities from Spellbinders behind her and placed a flat back pearl on each spoke.

This was such a fun project!  I love the thrill of discovering a new artist, and I have a feeling I will be coloring more of JadeDragonne's work very soon!

Markers used: Copics (E11, E21, E00, E31, R32, RV02, RV10, YG03, YG11, YG95, Y28, YR15, YR24, B00, B32, B34, BG0000, BG10, BG70, BG72).

Puck! I Missed Your Birthday!

Hiya!  I'm popping in to share a birthday card I made for my lovely and crafty friend Jasmine's husband.  I'm only, oh, about a month late with it, but I figure handmade is worth the wait.  lol  They are both huge hockey and Bruins fans!  He plays too.  (Not for the Bruins.  Just thought I'd clarify that.)  So I thought HOCKEY from Kenny K combined with the "Puck" sentiment from Graphicat Designs would be perfect for his 40th.  And when I planned it out the Bruins stood a chance of winning the Stanley Cup.  Sadly, it didn't end that way, but I still went with the color scheme anyway.  The image is colored with Copics and fussy cut.  Papers are from an old DCWV stack I had laying around.  Masculine cards are always a little tricky for me since we know how much I love my embellishments!   But I kept this one simple, adding only black organdy ribbon and black flat back pearls.  My layout is courtesy of Sketch Saturday (#230).  Their current challenge, in order to celebrate her birthday, is to pick any of designer Jen's past sketches.  I really liked this one and never used it when it debuted.

I was able to hand deliver this card on Sunday when I met Jasmine, her hubby, and son for a day of fun with the kids at Edaville USA's A Day Out with Thomas!  Here are few Instamoments:

Thanks for stopping by!  I'll be back tomorrow with Jasmine's birthday card.  Her birthday IS tomorrow and since she actually received her card early, I think that makes up a bit for her DH's being so late!

Hope everyone is looking forward to a fabulous weekend!  I know I am!

Markers used: Copics (E11, E21, E00, R20, R32, N0, N2, N6, N8, Y32, Y35, Y38).

The Corrosive Challenge #177 - Summertime

It's time for another Corrosive Challenge and it is with a heavy heart that we say good-bye to two of our fabulous designers!  Both Mags and Ruza will be leaving us after this challenge, and we are so sad to see them go!  We wish them the best with all their future endeavors and hope we still see them, and their amazing creations, around blogland!

This fortnight we have a fun and easy challenge for you -  SUMMERTIME!  The first day of Summer here occurred on Friday and this weekend's weather fit the bill perfectly!  Which means it was a great time to sit in front of a fan or in the AC and craft!  Our sponsor is Inky Impressions and they have generously offered a $10 GV to our winner!  They also provided the design team with two images to play with.  I have used the cute Fairy Sitting on Clothespin.  She is colored with Copics and cut using the Spellbinders Labels Twenty-Two Nestabilities.  The doily behind the image was made using the French Pastry die from Cheery Lynn.  The papers are from last year's DCWV Summer Days stack.  I added flowers, pearls, and a couple of punched butterflies, the latter courtesy of Martha Stewart.

Pop on over to The Corrosive Challenge blog to see what the team has created to get you in the mood for some Summery fun!  Speaking of which, Kayne and I are off to Edaville Railroad for a Day Out with Thomas this morning!  I am looking forward to seeing his face when he sees that Thomas the Tank Engine will be pulling him along for his train ride!  I'm sure there will be photos to post later!

Thanks for visiting my blog and I hope you have an outstanding day!

Today's Forecast: HOT

Here is a birthday card I made as a special request.  This is Carmen Electrafying from Kenny K.  I have always loved this image!  I think she's H-O-T!  She's colored with Copics and her boots are all Stickles upped!  The leopard print paper is from Basic Grey's Little Black Dress collection.  I embossed the black circle and then went over the raised impressions with my Sakura Stardust glitter pen.  I also added some to her wrist cuffs, chain, sunglasses, and bandana but it's hard to see in the photo.  The sentiment is from My Favorite Things and is cut with a Spellbinders Ribbon Banner die.  I added flowers, bling swirls, and a couple of Tim Holtz metal pieces (corner and gears).  Sketch is Sunday Sketch & Stamp (#161).

It really is supposed to be a warm one here today...  mid 80s and we're on our way to 90 and humid for the start of next week.  Summer has officially arrived!  It's the perfect day for the beach or a ride on that Harley.  I will be doing neither of these (I don't own a Harley and bikes terrify me!  lol) but I will be spending some quality time with the small man in the sun later!

I hope the weather is as enjoyable where you are!  Thanks for visiting and have a fabulous weekend!

Let's Chat

Another busy week has come and gone!  I did get some crafting in, but not a lot of time online for blogging.  The good news is my Internet is finally fixed (except for the wireless router part, but I'll take it for now)!  And supposedly I'm now upgraded to service that is twice the speed!  I wonder if it will help me get things done quicker...  lol

Today I have a sweet Saturated Canary card to share with you.  These two gossiping gals are called Secrets.  I've colored them in Copics and used them on Mojo Monday sketch #298.  The card was for a friend at work who is leaving to go to a new job.  I thought a "keep in touch" theme was the way to go.  Papers are My Mind's Eye - Happy Day.  I added flowers, satin pleated ribbon, and a Martha Stewart bunched border.  I once again used my beloved Fishtail Banners die from My Favorite Things.  The front sentiment, also from My Favorite Things, is stamped on a Fancy Tags die.  The inside greeting is one of those fab $1-$1.50 Studio G stamps which I found at Michaels.

I took Kayne to the library for the first time this week.  He got his very own official library card and took out half a dozen books to get started on some Summer reading.  He was so excited and I'm hoping this is the beginning of the same love for books that I have.  Here are a couple of Instagrammed moments from our visit:

I spent tonight with the older of my two younger brothers.  Dinner, shopping, and ice cream.  Does it get any better than that?  He asked for my shopping expertise, and I was happy to assist.  But now I am behind in my crafting, though, so I should probably get on that!  I hope you all had a wonderful week!  Thanks for stopping by and check back as I should have more posts this weekend, including a new Corrosive Challenge!

Happy Father's Day

Happy Father's Day! We are hanging out with the family for a Father's Day cookout. My dad went to breakfast with me and my brother this morning too so it's been a day filled with yummy food!

I have two cards to share with you today. The first is for my son's father. Kayne specifically asked that I make one and I could not
decline such a sweet request. Kayne also made his dad a handprint canvas.

The card features Star Boy Luka from La-La-Land Crafts. I love this little guy!  He is colored with Copics, fussy cut, and matted on top of the Star Circle Nestabilities die with foam squares. Papers are Recollections - Comic Heroes. I also used my trusty Fishtail Banners Die-namics. I added a chipboard sentinent snd foam letters. The sketch is Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge #186.

This next card is the one I made for my dad.  This image, Papa and Me from A Day For Daisies, reminds me so much of my son and my dad!

The image is just so sweet! I have a picture of them walking just like this, minus the suspenders and slingshot! I cut it out using  my Labels Twenty One Nestabilities from Spellbinders. I sponged the background with Baja Breeze ink and traced around the edge of the die for a bit of doodling. Papers are Simple Stories - Summer Fresh.  I kept the embellishments simple with just a couple of buttons and die cut letters.

I am still blogging from my phone so be patient with me. I hope everyone is enjoying their day, celebrating with the special dads in your lives!

White Wedding

I have been doing a lot of crafting these days.  I guess being offline is good for something!  Today I'm sharing a wedding card I made for a special request.  I was asked to include a bride & groom image and the date of their wedding.  I decided to go with the always classic and elegant white on white.  The image is You May Kiss The Bride from A Day For Daisies.  I colored it with Copics and cut it out with the Fleur de Lis Squares Nestabilities from Spellbinders.  I cut four Fishtail Flags Banners and embossed them with my Swiss Dots folder.  I layered those on top of another embossed panel and used the ticket corner punch for some added character.  The date is computer generated and cut with thee Spellbinders Fancy Tags.   The Mr. & Mrs. sentiment is from a $1 Studio G set that I picked up at AC Moore eons ago. An eye-catching bling swirl and some flowers are my finishing touches.

I am "borrowing" my parents' Internet again tonight.  I did go and get a NEW new modem and cable, but I haven't been home to get them hooked up.  I took the small man strawberry picking today!  Here's a look:

Tomorrow is Father's Day, and I'll have a couple of cards to share.  If I can get technology to cooperate with me, that is!  Now I have to get myself to the grocery store and home to make a card.  I really do need to stop procrastinating...  lol  Thanks for stopping by!  I hope you are enjoying your weekend so far!
