The Corrosive Challenge #196 - Show Us Your Metal

As predicted, it's been a busy weekend!  Of course, I waited until the last minute to create my card and then on top of it all I had to deal with a little technical difficulty from the new router!  I don't know where it gets off telling me blogspot.com is a malicious website!  Hmph!  After a panicked call to my brother, a setting change, and a computer restart, I was back up and running so that I could tell you about the new Corrosive Challenge that starts today!

We are sponsored this fortnight by the devilish and delightful Delicious Doodles!  Teri has offered 4 digis of choice to our winner (plus the team was generously given images to work with)!

Our theme is "Show Us Your Metal"!  C'mon!  Show us what you've got!  Hardware, that is.  We want to see you embellish your projects with at least one item made from metal.  I opted to work with Steampunk Mermaid.  She is colored with Copics and sponged with Pool Party classic ink from Stampin' Up.  My metal pieces are from Tim Holtz because we all know I totally have a crafty crush!  I've used an Ornate Plate and a metal corner.  I also added flowers, pearl flourishes, and die cut gears made using the My Favorite Things Time Pieces Die-namics.  Several punches were used as well (Martha Stewart and Stampin' Up).  The sentiment is from a Stampin' Up set called Elementary Elegance.  And the patterned papers from my stash are Paper Pizzazz.  The sketch is the current Deconstructed Sketch (#144) but I set my image panel at an angle.

Be sure to pop over to The Corrosive Challenge blog to see what fabulous creations my teamies have forged!  Thanks for visiting!

Markers used: Copics (E00, E11, E21, R32, R81, RV66, N0, N2, N4, N6, YG00, YG11, BG10, BG72, BV000, BV02, BV11, BV13).

Sassy Studio Designs "Go Green, It's Spring"

I am so excited to be blogging from the comfort of my living room once again!  My brother made a tech house call to set up my new wireless router.  I paid him in pizza.  Bargain.  It was well worth it to be "unplugged" again!  Today I am sharing a card I made for my co-worker's birthday (and for the Sassy Studio Designs "Go Green, It's Spring" Tic Tac Toe challenge).  She is pregnant with her first child right now so I selected The Greatest Gift as my image.  She is colored with Copics and fussy cut.  I loved sketch #95 at Cardabilities so I've used it here.  I've added half a paper doily, flowers, and die cut leaves (Sizzix).  The die cut sentiment is from a My Favorite Things set called Wrapped in Love and is cut with the Fishtail Flags Stax Die-namics, also from MFT.  The epoxy flat back was made using Epiphany Crafts Round 25 Shape Studio tool, a scrap of chevron designer paper, and a EC Round 25 Bubble Cap.  Papers are Simply Pastels by Recollections.

My three in a row are: Flower, Reuse, Die Cut.  My reused item is a Cheerios cereal box I utilized to make my own chipboard letters.  This is great because you can use any designer paper, glitter, etc you want to make them match your project!  I used the By The Letter Die-namics from MFT for the hb (happy birthday).

Here's a look at how I made these!

Pretty cool, right?  I need to remember to do this more often.  They add a nice touch to the project.  My weekend promises to be a busy one, but I'll be back on Sunday with a new Corrosive Challenge!  Hope to see you there!

Markers used: Copics (E00, E11, E21, E25, E27, E70, E74, E79, R32, R81, R85, RV66).

- A Creative Romance: Spring Flowers

How The Wild {East} Wind Blows

Hey there!  How are things where you are?  We were lucky and dodged a Spring snowstorm today!  But man, the WINDS!  They are just whipping around out there!  They aren't the only wild wind on my mind today, though...  I have a card to share with you featuring an image from The East Wind.  I just recently discovered the fantastic artist behind these images, Kyra Eunkyo Kim, aka Unky!  Of course I went shopping in The East Wind etsy store immediately and treated myself to a few images.  Be sure to visit the blog and Facebook group as well!

I had a little time to color and craft so I made a card for a co-worker who was recently out for surgery.  She loves to read so I selected Lucy Loo Bookaholic.  I had a blast coloring that hair!  She is colored with Copics, of course, and cut using Long Rectangles Nestabilities from Spellbinders.  Sketch is from Sketch Saturday (#302).  Papers are Brenda Walton Madeline by K&Company.  I added some Tim Holtz hardware (corners, label pulls, mini gears) and a bit of seam binding.  But my favorite embellishment is the clock I created using My Favorite Things Time Pieces Die-namics and Timeless stamp set!  The sentiment is also from My Favorite Things (a set called Bunny Slippers).

I am going to keep this post brief because I actually printed oodles of images recently so I had better get some more coloring done!  Check back this weekend, though, as I know I'll have several new cards to show off by then!

Thanks for stopping in and enjoy the second half of your week!

When You Wish Upon A Star

Today I'm wishing a Happy Birthday to someone very special to me- my best friend!  She has been there for me since high school and no matter where our lives took us we could count on the other one to always be there!  She is a huge Disney fan and loves Mickey Mouse in particular so I selected Disney Fan from Sassy Studio Designs for her card.  She is colored with Copics and placed front and center on the current Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge (#211) over on Karen Giron's blog.  Papers are from a 6x6 pad I found at Joann Fabrics.  It's called Disney's Magic Kingdom from Hot Off the Presses.  I happen to also own a Mickey Mouse head punch!  I added lots of flowers, a couple of tiny clips (Stampin' Up), and two die cut elements (Dizzy Doily Duo Die-namics from My Favorite Things and the Birthday Corner die from La-La-Land Crafts).

I wasn't able to celebrate with her today, but I did drop off her card and a four pack of gourmet cupcakes! One was even Strawberry Margarita with actual tequila in it!  lol  I hope that she is able to put a candle in one of those and make a wish!

Thanks for popping in!  I hope your week has been a good one!  I'm happy that the weekend is almost upon us!  Will there be time for something crafty...? I hope so as I have SO many printed images that are just waiting to be colored!

Markers used: Copics (E00, E11, E21, E23, E25, E27, B00, B32, B34, B37, Y32, Y35, Y38, N0, N4, N6, N8, R32, R35, R37, R39, R89).

Feeling Lucky

Happy St. Patrick's Day!  Everyone's a little Irish today so I thought I'd share the two cards I made.  The first one was for my co-worker.  She actually IS Irish and she loves this holiday so, like last year, I decided to make her a card.  I am so excited that I finally got to color up an image from Stamps by Aurora Wings!  If you haven't heard about Mitzi Sato-Wiuff then you may have been living under a rock!  lol  These gorgeous images are taking the craft world by storm and I am swept up in the tempest!  Her etsy shop is filled with flowers and magic!  She also has a website, a blog, a brand new challenge blog, and a Facebook group!  This is Clover Pixie and she is colored with Copics.  I must say I am really pleased with how she came out!  I cut the image out using the Small Deckled Rectangles Nestabilities from Spellbinders.  The circle behind her is also from Spellbinders, a set called Celtic Motifs (a $10 score from AC Moore).  The paper is Shamrocks from Karen Foster Design.  I added a bit of bling, some flowers, and a Martha Stewart punched four leaf clover.  The sentiment is from one of those little Studio G sets and I used a Stampin' Up punch for it.

Notice my fabulous new watermark?  My friend Michelle of Evermore Card Creations is a-freakin-mazing!  Not only did she give my blog a much needed makeover, but she created the perfect watermark for the photos of my creations!  She's a digital goddess but she also knows her way around Copics and paper!  Check out her etsy shop HERE!

Okay, now that the shameless plug for my friend is over, let me tell you about the second card I made.  This one was for Kayne.  St.Patrick's Day just happens to be his "half" birthday, which I think is pretty cool, so I always acknowledge it with a little something- a card, baked goods.  And I am so enthralled with Stamps by Aurora Wings that I colored a second image!

This is Leprechaun.  Isn't he cute?  I thought he was perfect for my small man!  So I colored him up with Copics and cut him out using the Classic Circles Nestabilities from Spellbinders.  Papers are Karen Foster Design - Shamrocks and Little Yellow Bicylce - Lucky Me Flourish.  Since this one is for a preschooler, I kept it simple.  I stamped another Studio G sentiment directly onto my image panel and added one plastic "gold" coin.

Oh my gosh, those were so much fun that I just want to sit back down at my craft desk again and color!  And I'm sure I will soon.  Just not tonight.

Thanks for stopping by!  May your luck be plenty and your troubles be few!  I'll leave you with a photo of my little leprechaun!

The Corrosive Challenge #195 - Go Green

Welcome to another addition of The Corrosive Challenge!  It's time to welcome a new sponsor and kick off a new challenge!  This fortnight we are pleased to introduce The Stamping Chef!  I am super excited to have a chance to work with these "smexy" images!  Tamara's art is cheeky and fun!  But don't just take my word for it...  Check out her shop HERE and see for yourself!  We were each generously offered an image of our choice to work with and if you play along you'll have a chance to win 3 images of your very own!

Our challenge has 3 options!  Mix and match as you please.  Choose one, two, or all three!

1) Use the photo color inspiration (see below)
2) Create a St. Patrick's Day project
3) Include something recycled on your creation

I selected Trixie Deville for my project.  I loved the 50s starlet air about her!  She is colored with Copics and fussy cut.  I used the green from the photo inspiration as well as something recycled (soda can tabs) for my creation.  My layout is courtesy of Tuesday Morning Sketches (#240) and they had a twist this week: 3B's.  My three would be border punch, bottle cap, and blossoms (flowers).  But it's also a birthday card in case the last one's a stretch!  lol  My papers are My Mind's Eye - Everyday Tango.  I added some seam binding and flat back adhesive pearls from my stash as well as a sentiment from Stampin' Up.  The border punch is Martha Stewart and the die cut behind Trixie is My Favorite Things - Insert It: InstaFrame Die-namics.

I do have a couple of St. Patrick's Day cards to make today and a bit of baking to do.  Everyone is Irish on March 17th and since it's Kayne's "half" birthday I always try to make it fun.  I sent treats to day care for all the little leprechauns last week.  Take a peek...

Their very own rainbows and pot o' gold!  What did we ever do before Pinterest?  lol  I hope you'll head over to The Corrosive Challenge blog to see the team "Go Green"!  Thanks for visiting and enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Markers used: Copics (E00, E11, E21, E23, E31, E79, R81, R85, YG91, YG93, YG95, YG97, N4, N6, N8).

Lucky Thirteen x 2

Hi!  How is everyone out in blogland today?  Today I am sharing two very special birthday cards with you!  They are for my best friend's twin daughters who are turning 13!  Wow, where has the time gone!?  I can't even wrap my head around the fact that they are old enough to babysit for my child!  lol  I always make them special cards for their birthdays (as well as for their older sister who {almost} shares her birthday with Kayne).  Usually they have a theme or something they are really into but this year their mom came up blank when I asked.  They're teens, she said.  That was all I needed.  I picked out two images from JadeDragonne (I just love her art) that spoke to me of each girl's independent look and personality while sharing that special similarity that twin sisters have.

This is Sarah by JadeDragonne.  She is colored with Copics and cut and matted using the Classic Squares Nestabilities from Spellbinders.  I used another of my new La-La-Land Crafts banner dies - the Scalloped Banner.  Papers are Lily Bee Designs - Picket Fence.  Sketch is courtesy of Digi Sketch Challenge (who has an optional theme of "Cute").  Other dies used were Labels Eighteen Nestabilities (Spellbinders) and Cute Cameras Die-namics (My Favorite Things).  For embellishments I added some Tim Holtz hardware (long fasteners and label pulls) as well as flowers and American Crafts glitter chipboard number stickers from my stash.

And for her (slightly) younger twin, The Necklace by JadeDragonne.  Again the image is colored with Copics and cut using the Classic Squares Nestabilities.  Papers are Basic Grey - Kissing Booth and the layout is from Sketch Saturday (#300).  Details here include a couple of Martha Stewart punches, more Tim Holtz hardware (metal corner and key), Stampin' Up seam binding, flowers, American Crafts glitter chipboard number stickers, and a laser cut wood veneer.

They were delivered last night and their mom told me I "nailed it".  {Yes!}  I had a lot of fun making these, and I'm happy they were well received.  Happy 13th Birthday to my favorite twins!  It's an honor to be your "Auntie"!
