Celebrate the Journey

Hey there!  It's been a busy weekend so far!  I spent my Sunday doing all the things that often get neglected during the work week - cleaning, dishes, laundry - plus some holiday prep.  I made my deviled eggs and brownies from scratch.  I never even had a chance to sit down for any crafting, but this card was done and ready to be blogged.  It's an anniversary card for a couple who like to travel.

I colored Tiddly Inks' Suitcases with my Copics and cut it using the Classic Ovals Nestabilities (Spellbinders).  It's matted on the Lacy Ovals Nestabilities (Spellbinders).  I distressed the edges of the image a bit with Vintage Photo Distress Ink and some 7Gypsies stamps.  The border punch is Martha Stewart.  I added seam binding , flowers, and some Tim Holtz goodies (Compass Coin, Game Spinner, Corner, and Buckle).  The sentiment is from My Favorite Things and a set called Goin' Places.  I cut it with one of the Ribbon Banners dies (Spellbinders).  Papers are Teresa Collins - World Traveler.  Sketch is from Sketch n Stash (#139).

Happy Memorial Day to all my US followers!  It's the unofficial start to Summer and a day to remember all those who have died serving their country.  We are off to a parade and rubber ducky race then a cookout at my brother's.  The weather is supposed to be perfect so we couldn't ask for anything more in a holiday (and day off from work)!

Markers used: Copics (E23, E25, E31, E33, E34, Y28, R39, R89, N2, N4, N6).

Hello!  Welcome to the 200th challenge of The Corrosive Challenge!  We are celebrating in style with a dozen awesome sponsors who have provided amazing prizes!  Want to win?  All you have to do is enter our Anything Goes challenge or participate in our blog hop or BOTH!  Each team member has been assigned a sponsor to work with and they will be giving away the prize donated by that sponsor!  Leave comments on the DT's blogs as you go for a chance to win!  A random winner will be selected from each blog!  PLUS play along with the challenge for a chance at a £15 gift voucher to Crafts and Me (that's about $25 US)!  Check out the blog for all the details and the full list of fabulous sponsors!

I was assigned Simply B Stamps.  Ok, so not so much "assigned" as requested.  Well, insisted, really.  I haven't had occasion to work with one of Betty's images in a while so when she offered a $20 gift voucher for the hop, I was thrilled!  She also generously allowed me to select an image to work with!  I choose  Sleeping Beauty from the Steampunk Fairytales and Myths collection.  These are drawn by artist Abigail Larson.

Sleeping Beauty is colored with Copics and fussy cut.  My layout is based on the Sketch File's May sketch (HERE).  I used my Classic Ovals and Floral Ovals Nestabilities (Spellbinders) as well as a couple of butterfly punches from Martha Stewart.  I then added plenty of flowers, some pearls, a metal filigree corner, and two pins.  Papers are My Mind's Eye - Everyday Tango.

I'm the last stop on the hop,  but here is the complete order in case you just happened upon my post:

Now hop along if you haven't already!  And don't forget to link up to our "Anything Goes" 200th challenge!

Haiti Love

Hello!  Before I head off to the craft desk I wanted to share a card I made for a co-worker who just recently graduated from college and simultaneously landed her dream job.  She will be working for Be Like Brit, helping orphans in Haiti.  This is where her heart is and she couldn't be happier!  We had a little goodbye get together for her this week at work, and I knew that I had the perfect image for her card!  I colored up Haiti Love from Saturated Canary with my Copics and fussy cut her.  This was my first attempt at coloring curling hair.  I think I'll get the hang of it with some practice.  Papers are My Mind's Eye  - Follow Your Heart: Be Amazing.  I used a Martha Stewart border punch as well as the Scalloped Banner die from La-La-Land Crafts.  The compass and game spinner are from Tim Holtz.  Flowers are from my stash.

I really love working with Krista's images!  I was so excited to receive my custom image this week!  It is all colored up and I will be sharing it with you soon!

Mr. and Mrs.

Hi!  Popping in quick to share a wedding card made for a special request, personalized for the happy couple.  I love the white on white look for weddings, and I made sure this one had lots of texture with embossing and die cuts.  The image is one from JadeDragonne on deviantART called Bride n Groom.  They are colored with Copics and I added  a bit of Frosted Lace Stickles to the bride's veil.  For dies I've used the Heart Doily Border (La-La-Land Crafts), Ribbon Banners (Spellbinders), and Resplendent Rectangles (Spellbinders).  The heart is a Martha Stewart punch.  I added flowers, a Tim Holtz metal key, and a bit of ruffled ribbon for the finishing touches.  The sketch is from The Crazy Challenge (#171).

Thanks for stopping by!  I should be coloring and not typing but it I don't blog as I'm creating I will fall hopelessly behind!  I hope everyone is having a great week so far!  A long weekend is on the way...  That is what keeps me going!  That and caffeine.

Poppy Elf

Hi!  I have been a busy little bee.  This month is flying by and I seem to be behind on everything, including blogging!  Here is the last of the Mother's Day cards... The card was delivered on time; I'm just late blogging it.  I colored up the gorgeous Poppy Elf from Stamps by Aurora Wings.  She is matted on the Nestabilities Fleur De Lis Rectangles (Spellbinders).  Papers are My Mind's Eye - The Sweetest Thing: Tangerine.  I added a big orange flower and some rhinestone flourishes.  The sentiment is again the circle Mother's Day freebie from Netty's Cards.  The fabulous sketch is Time 4 Scrap. The had a special Scrapbooking Day challenge that included the amazing layout you see above!

With several cards still waiting to be blogged, four pending orders, and several belated birthday cards on the To Do list (not to mention my design team work) it's going to be even busier this week!  Happy Monday and thanks for stopping by!  I need a nap already.

Markers used: Copics (E00, E11, E21, E23, E31, E39, R20, R24, R27, R29, R35, R39, R32, Y35, Y38, B00, YG61, YG97, YR02, YR04, YR07, YR15, YR18).

Queen for the Day

Hey there!  How is everyone's week going so far?  It's been a busy one here so far, and I've fallen behind in my blogging so I thought I'd take a few to share another Mother's Day card I made.  This one was for a co-worker's wife from him and his daughter.  I selected Saturated Canary's Queenie and Princess to color.  He told me his wife is not just "Queen For A Day" but Queen for Always".  And I guess that would make his daughter a princess!  So, perfect, right?

The image is colored with Copics and cut using the Labels Twenty Two Nestabilities (Spellbinders).  I used a circle sentiment freebie from Netty's Cards.  It is cut using Classic Cirlces Nestabilities (Spellbinders).  I love my new Little Darlings Rubber Stamps Lovely View die!  It is also by Spellbinders, exclusively for LDRS!  The border punch is Martha Stewart.  Papers are My Mind's Eye - Penny Lane.  I added a few flowers from my stash plus flower ribbon and a metal crown from Tim Holtz.  And let's not forget a bit of bling for these adorable royals!  I put a touch of Stardust pen on the princess' veil and added a Recollections rhinestone corner.  I missed the link up for the sketch but it's Sketch N Stash (#138).

Krista's images are some of my favorites to color and work with!  She has been releasing new images every Saturday and it has been hard to resist!  So why try, right?  lol  I'm waiting for one special image to make it's appearance...  Hopefully soon!

Thanks for visiting and enjoy the rest of your week!  I have lots of crafting to do but I will try to pop in with my final Mother's Day card soon.

Markers used: Copics (E00, E11, E21, E23, E25, E31, E34, Y23, Y28, Y32, Y35, B00, BG70, BG72, YG61, R20, R32, R81, R85).

The Corrosive Challenge #199 - Banner Day

Happy Mother's Day!  Wishing all you mamas out there a fabulous day!  We'll be celebrating with my mom and a little Chinese take-out.  It's supposed to be a gorgeous day so I'm looking forward to some sunshine, a bit of relaxing, and maybe even a little coloring before the day is over.  But right now I have a new Corrosive Challenge to tell you about!  We are welcoming sponsor, Sami Stamps!  Artist Sami Siemers Ratliff is the talent behind these wonderfully whimsical images.  And if the art work looks a little similar to another one of our much loved sponsors, A Day For Daisies, well that is because Sami is Tammy's little sister!  Lots of talent in that family, for sure!

Our theme this fortnight is a fun one - "Banner Day"!  It's as easy as throwing a banner on your project!  Sami graciously offered each team member an image to work with as well the $12 gift certificate she will provide for our winner!  I selected Comfy Cocoa for my creation.  This image reminded me of my mom and her love for coffee and yoga.  She is colored with Copics and cut using the Classic Rectangles Nestabilities (Spellbinders).  I once again added some Fran-tage embossing enamel to the image panel, this time in Aged Rose.  The sketch is #150 from The Deconstructed Sketch.  I've used a few dies on the card: Fishtail Flags Stax Die-namics (My Favorite Things), Heart Banner (La-La-Land Crafts), Leaf Doohickey (Magnolia), and Tiny Shapes (Whimsy Stamps).  The latter coordinates with the Spell It Out alphabet stamp set I used for the "MOM" sentiment.  Papers are DCWV - Vintage Collector.

Head over to The Corrosive Challenge blog to see what other banner creations the design team has to share with you!  And play along for your chance to win!

Since Kayne is little still I treated myself to some Mother's Day goodies - a trip to the salon for nails and a pedi as well as six Saturated Canary digis and a new Magnolia die (The castle!  I can't wait for it to arrive!)  But my sweet small man showered me with love only a preschooler can give!

Thanks for stopping in!  I'll have more cards to show off this week as I have at least half a dozen custom creations either done or in the works.  Hope to see you again soon!  Enjoy your day!

Markers used: Copics (E00, E11, E21, E70, E74, E79, R81, R85, BG10, BG13, BG15, BG70, BG72, N2, N4, N6, Y32, Y35).

Expecting Love

Hi!  Today I'm sharing a custom creation.  I received an unusual request: a card for an equine loving new mom-to-be.  My friend told me she wanted a "beautiful blond pregnant girl with a white horse".  Suuure.... No problem.  Only it was a problem.  No such image existed that I could find so I improvised, combining a free line art from AppleHunter on deviantArt (HERE) with Pregnant Woman from Whimsy Stamps.

The images are colored with Copics and I paper pieced the woman's dress.  Papers are My Mind's Eye - Bramble Rose.  I've used a few dies here: Labels Seventeen Nestabilities and Romantic Rectangles from Spellbinders as well as the Heart Doily Border from La-La-Land Crafts.  The sentiment is from My Favorite Things.  The set it's included in is called Baby Bump.  I added flowers, a litle bling, a sprinkling of Fran-tage, and a Tim Holtz metal buckle.

I love being challenged to think outside the box!  I had a hard time getting started on this one, but once I did it all just came together and I'm really happy with the outcome!  Hopefully the recipient will be too!

I will be crafting in all my spare time the remainder of the week!  I hope you'll drop by again soon to see what else I've been up to!

Brotherly Love

Hello!  Popping in to share the card I made for my brother's birthday.  I've used Tempest of Ice from Stamps by Aurora Wings.  Visit Mitzi's esty shop HERE for this digital stamp and many more!  I colored the image with Copics and cut it using the Classic Long Rectangles Nestabilities (Spellbinders).  The dies behind the image are from Fancy Tags Two (Spellbinders).  I recently received some happy mail from a dear crafty friend of mine!  In my package of goodies was four containers of Fran-tage!  This was my first experience with the embossing powder and I am now officially obsessed!  I sprinkled and heat set some Shabby White around the image here.  The only embellishment I added were four Tim Holtz metal corners.

I love to give cards for people; it's my thing.  I always have, even before I started making my own.  I know not everyone shares my passion.  Or my sentimentality for saving mementos.  I'm aware that many a store bought card, and *gasp* maybe some handmade ones too, have ended up in the trash.  So when my brother opened the card, removed his gift (cash!  lol), and handed the card back to me, it was actually the nicest thing he could do. Ah, brotherly love.

Markers used: Copics (E00, E11, E21, E23, E31, Y28, N0, N2, N4, N6, B32, B34, R20).

Happy Cinco de Mayo!

Happy Cinco de Mayo!  I loved these two mariachi guys from The Paper Shelter and decided to color them up for my best friend.  I'm pretty sure her affinity for Cinco de Mayo is all about fabulous margaritas, but every year I try to make her a card.

The image Los Mariachis is colored with Copics and cut using the Classic Squares Nestabilities from Spellbinders.  It's matted on the Lacy Squares Nestabilities (also from Spellbinders).  Papers are DCWV Fiesta Forever.  I added a few flowers, some rhinestones, and a Flag Banner from La-La-Land Crafts.

I have a very busy week ahead of me so I'm keeping this post brief.  Hope you have wonderful week planned and thanks for the visit!

Markers used: Copics (E00, E04, E11, E21, E23, E25, E31, E33, E34, E39, YR07, YR24, Y32, Y35, Y38, BG10, BG72, N0, N2, N4, N6).

Game On!

Hi!  This has been one of those weeks!  I've felt exhausted all week and every time I even thought about crafting I found myself on the couch in front of the TV.  But now the crunch is on and I have lots to do and little time to do it.  So before I go making new cards, I thought I should first blog one that was already finished - a birthday card for one of my co-workers.  I've actually known him since junior high school!  Funny, right?  Anyway, he's a hockey player so I selected Anime Hockey from KennyK to color up.  The image is colored with Copics and fussy cut.  Masculine cards are always tricky for me...  And I tend not to embellish them much since my go to items are usually flowers and bling.  Here I added just a Tim Holtz metal corner.  The image is popped up with foam dots on top of the Star Five Nestabilities (Spellbinders).  I used a sentiment from a Stampin' Up set called Sporting and punched it out with one of the SU circle punches.  A Martha Stewart border punch created the stars border.  Papers are Champs by Me & My Big Ideas.  The sketch I found over at Crafting When We Can (#68).

Hopefully my mojo returns tonight so I can crank out at least a card or two!  Hope you have something fabulous planned for your weekend and thanks for stopping by!

Markers: Copics (E00, E11, E21, E23, E33, E37, E39, E79, R20, R35, R37, R39, R89, Y35, N0, N2, N4, N6, N8).

KennyK's Krafty Krew #171 - Anything Goes with a Twist: Femme Fatale

I'm the hostess with the mostess for the new KennyK's Krafty Krew challenge this time around!  I've put on my apron and high heels for the occasion....  It's always Anything Goes with a Twist.  The twist is the fun part!  This time it's: Femme Fatale!

femme fa·tale
/ˌfem fəˈtal,fəˈtäl/
noun

an attractive and seductive woman, especially one who will ultimately bring disaster to a man who becomes involved with her.

Head over to the KennyK's Krafty Krew blog and see all the sirens, temptresses, and seductresses Team B{iker Girl} has to offerOur random winner gets 3 digis of choice (5 if you use the optional twist in your project) and each of our Top 3 picks will receive 1 digi each for the honor!  Crafty Ribbons is sponsoring us as well with a special Mother's Day prize of a £10 Gift Voucher!

Remember: You MUST use a KennyK image to play along!  Don't have an image?  Pop over to kennykdownloads.com for a little shopping!

I selected Allura Von D as my Femme Fatale.  Allura is colored with Copics.  (Skin: E00, E11, E21, R32  Hair: E23, E31, E37, E39   Eyes: B00, B02  Clothes: N0, N2, N4, N6, N8, R35, R37, R39, R89)  My first attempt at stippling around the image leaves me thinking I need a little practice!  My image is cut and matted using Classic and Scalloped Circles Nestabilities by Spellbinders.  The fishtail flags were created with my trusty Fishtail Flags Stax Die-namics from My Favorite Things.  The stars and flourish were also cut with Die-namics.  Papers are Union Square by Recollections.  I wanted a little something extra on my card so I added the black flat back pearls, flowers, the Tim Holtz metal keyhole, and the La-La-Lands Craft Wrought Iron Fence die.  But the pièce de résistance is the sentiment.  A little gem from Inkadinkado that has been in my stash for years and finally found the perfect card!

This was one of my favorite challenges ever.  What a fun theme!!!  KennyK has so many sexy images that are perfect!  So c'mon!  Color one up (or purchase something pre-colored HERE) and play along!  Thanks for dropping in.  I hope I was a good hostess!
